According to Henderson and Berla (1994), "the most accurate predictor of a student's achievement in school is not income or social status but the extent to which that student's family is able to: 1. Create a home environment that encourages learning 2. Express high (but not unrealistic) expectations for their children's achievement and future careers 3. Become involved in their children's education at school and in the community (p. 160) Santee is committed to ensuring that all parents/guardians are critical stakeholders in the education of our students. As such Santee is prepared to provide students' parents, guardians and families with the necessary resources to ensure their children's success. Santee has a fully staffed Parent Center with bilingual Community Representatives who are available to assist parents with any matters concerning their children. Additionally, parents are encouraged to participate in school functions and parents meetings including: *Compulsory Education Advisory Council (CEAC) *English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) *School Site Council *School Leadership Team *Parent Conferences *Parent Academy Workshops *PLAS Parent College *Structured Parent Instructional Rounds (Classroom Observations) *Coffee and Donuts with the Principal *Breakfast with the Administrators Santee's Goal: To have 75% of our students' parents actively participate in all school activities. Minimum Expectation: Parents are encouraged to participate in a minimum of TEN parents meetings throughout the year. Evidence of participation will be logged in the "Parent Participation Passport" which will be available in the Parent Center. A calendar with ALL Parent Meetings for the 2012-2013 academic school year will be posted shortly.
