Ms. Rodriguez has been at Santee since 2005 and she is currently the counselor for the class of 2018. She began her career in LAUSD as an English Teacher and became a counselor 3 years ago. She attended UCLA and earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Literature and Culture and history as well as her Teaching Credential. She subsequently earned her Counseling Credential and Masters Degree in School Counseling from Cal State Long Beach.
She was inspired to become a counselor because when she was in high school she was lucky to have teachers and counselors help her deal with the challenges of adolescence. She enjoys her job because, as she says, “it's rewarding to be a part of activities with students and watching them grow up.”
Among the many awards and citations she has received is the 2008 Teacher of the Year Award for Santee’s School of Public Service and Social Justice. When she isn't counseling young Falcons, she enjoys spending her free time with her young and growing family. Perhaps the phrase Ms. Rodriguez often says that most students will remember years from now is: "I promise - all the hard work will pay off."
