2016-17 Principal's Message

Dear Santee Falcon Families:

I am excited about the upcoming school year at Santee Education Complex!  The Santee staff has improved our instruction because we believe that all of our Falcons deserve a safe, caring, and educationally rigorous environment.  Working together with students, parents, and the community we raise student achievement, school spirit, and better prepare students for their future.  Below are some examples of Santee successes during the 2016-17 school year that we look to continue to improve for the years to come:

  • Santee E.C. won High School of the Year by Partnership for Los Angeles Schools!
  • Santee became accredited for 6 years by WASC!
  • Santee continues to have a waiting list as 898 South LA. 8th grade students out of 1800 chose Santee as their #1 school!
  • We will have an Enrichment/Intervention Schedule to better support our Falcons!
  • Santee increased the number of students taking and passing Advanced Placement Classes!
  • Falcons were League Champs in 9 sports. The most ever in one year at Santee!
  • Santee’s Graduation Rate increased by 10% to 84%! 49 more graduates than last year!
  • Santee students in SLAM Stats program with CSULA had a higher pass rate than college students in CSULA!
  • Santee Falcons advocated and opened the first ever Gender Neutral Restroom in LAUSD to support all students.
  • Santee E.C. became AVID Certified!
  • Santee Culinary won the Cooking for Change challenge and 3 Falcons SOARed to Washington to display their talents.

As we transition to a new school year, I want to ensure everyone is aware of some important school related information:

  • First day of school is Tuesday, August 16, 2016 and will be a regular full-day schedule. The first bell rings at 7:50 a.m.
  • Costs for Dress Code Collared Shirts: $15.00 for the Polo shirts (Black, Tan/Beige ONLY); $10.00 for the PE shirt; $15.00 for the shorts.  Please be aware of the new dress code for Collared shirts:  Black, and Tan/Beige ONLY.  Also, Wednesday is College Gear day (college shirts allowed) and Friday is Santee Spirit shirt day.
  • Please note that you must bring the attached important documents signed by parents on your assigned orientation day (Emergency Contact, Computer Use Policy, Student Compact, and Dress Code Information).

We look forward to an outstanding year of learning!  See you at orientation!
